6 days Somatic Trauma Release & Nervous System Regulation Retreat — Bali

RETURN TO THE BODY

SIX DAYS TO RELEASE STRESS, TENSION AND TRAUMA

"Not by working harder on yourself, but by returning to your body."

There are moments in life when you realise understanding alone is no longer enough.

Maybe you've done the therapy. Read the books. Spent years working out why you feel the way you do. You know your story. You recognise your patterns. Your body, though, still seems to be telling a different one.

The tension remains. The exhaustion remains. The restlessness remains.

As if part of you is still bracing for danger that isn't there anymore.

This retreat is for people whose nervous system has been stuck in survival mode for far too long, including a growing number of high-performing professionals and executives who look fine on the outside and are running on empty underneath. It's for burnout, chronic stress, trauma, depressive symptoms, or emotional exhaustion. Not another method to try. Not another method to try. A breathwork journey and somatic trauma release process where your body can finally slow down.

WHO THIS IS FOR

Inner Journey welcomes:

  • People recovering from burnout or chronic stress, including executives, founders, and high-performing professionals whose bodies have been running on adrenaline for years
  • People with a trauma history from a single overwhelming event to prolonged or early-life experiences
  • People without a diagnosis or label who simply feel disconnected from themselves and want more energy, calm, and aliveness
  • Coaches, therapists, and bodyworkers who want to deepen their own healing, because guiding others well starts with continuing to meet yourself

No previous experience with breathwork, somatic work, or meditation is required. You don't need to know anything, achieve anything, or prove anything, just the willingness to give yourself six days.

This retreat may not be for everyone. But if something in you softens while reading this, as if your body already knows what your mind is still working out, there's a good chance you're in the right place.

THE BODY NEVER FORGETS

Many people who arrive at Inner Journey have already done real work. Therapy. Books. Years of learning to recognise their patterns. They understand exactly where their reactions come from and their body still responds as if the danger could return at any moment.

The body doesn't need words to remember. It remembers through experience.

Anything that was too much, too soon, or carried alone for too long leaves an imprint on the nervous system, not always as a conscious memory, but in the way we breathe, move, relate, and experience the world.

There's real wisdom in that. Your body was never working against you, it was protecting you. But protective patterns that once kept you safe can, over time, create distance from your emotions, your relationships, and yourself.

That's where healing begins. Not by trying to change yourself, but by gently meeting what's been held for so long. A nervous system only changes when it experiences real safety again, felt in the body, not just understood by the mind. This is the foundation of somatic healing: working with the body first, not just the story.

Our approach sits within the same tradition as Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing, the idea that trauma is held in an incomplete nervous system response, not just a memory and the broader understanding of trauma popularised by figures like Gabor Maté. Inner Journey is not affiliated with or endorsed by either.

SAFETY IS HEALING

A body that's learned to stay alert doesn't relax because someone tells it, "you're safe now." It relaxes when it's given the chance to actually experience safety again.

While many programs chase breakthroughs or push personal limits, we take a different approach on purpose: not deeper, safer. Because real transformation starts with safety, not intensity.

Nothing here is forced. There's nothing you need to "break through." The pace is set by your nervous system, sometimes that looks like release, sometimes calm, sometimes grief, sometimes simply being present.

For many participants, the biggest shift is realising, often for the first time in years that their body no longer has to stay on guard.

WHAT SIX DAYS ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE

This isn't a series of disconnected workshops. It's one carefully sequenced process, built around what your nervous system can safely take in at each stage.

It starts with landing: real rest, stillness, and space, without demands or stimulation, so your body can register that it's safe to stop bracing. Most participants don't expect how much begins to shift just from slowing down.

From there, the core body-oriented work unfolds: Body Remembers Trauma Therapy (BRTT), Trauma Release Breathwork (TRB), 16D Breathwork, regression work, and somatic practice, always guided at the pace your nervous system can safely process. The goal is never to relive the past, but to help the body complete protective responses it never got to finish.

Rest is never an afterthought here. Each day also includes plenty of time for gentle Yin Yoga, massages, swimming, journaling, or simply doing nothing at all. These moments matter just as much as the sessions themselves, giving your nervous system the chance to regulate, recover, and integrate what's surfaced at its own pace. Toward the end, this becomes the focus: consolidating, resting, and preparing to bring what's shifted back into everyday life.

Every facilitator is trained in trauma-informed, body-oriented work. You're never asked to process alone.

WHO WE ARE

Inner Journey is an international training institute and center of expertise specializing in trauma, somatic therapy, and nervous system regulation. For many years, we have supported people seeking lasting healing, personal growth, and a deeper connection with themselves.

What began as a personal journey of recovery has grown into an internationally recognized institute where thousands of participants from around the world have completed our trainings, retreats, and individual programs. Throughout this journey, our vision has remained the same. The body not only carries the effects of trauma, but also holds the capacity to heal when the right conditions are created.

That is why our work is not focused on symptom management. Instead, we work with the relationship between the body, the breath, and the nervous system. Our approach combines contemporary insights from neurobiology, Polyvagal Theory, and somatic trauma therapy with many years of practical experience. Our goal is not to teach people how to become someone else, but to help them rediscover what safety, regulation, and genuine connection feel like from within.

Our facilitators specialize in body-oriented trauma work and create an environment where professional guidance, personal attention, and emotional safety are at the heart of everything we do. Every participant is seen as a person, never as a diagnosis or a problem that needs to be fixed.

What sets us apart is not only the methods we teach, but the way we are present. Without judgment. Without rushing. Without forcing change. We trust the wisdom of the body and believe that lasting healing begins when people feel safe enough to listen to what their body has been trying to communicate all along.

Our retreat in Bali is a natural extension of this vision. It is a place where the tranquility of the island, the depth of somatic work, and the safety of professional guidance come together. Not as an escape from everyday life, but as an invitation to come home to yourself once again.

WHY BALI, WHY THIS, WHY NOW

Wherever you're travelling from, arriving somewhere far enough from your everyday life matters. Bali gives you real distance from your inbox, your responsibilities, and the version of yourself that has to keep it together without adding the strain of an exhausting journey on top of what you're already carrying. It's also one of the most established wellness destinations in the world, which means the infrastructure for real, high-quality somatic and trauma work already exists here, tested by thousands of participants from around the globe.

That said, Bali doesn't heal you. The slower rhythm, the natural surroundings, and the distance from your everyday obligations simply make it easier for your nervous system to finally let go.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions & Answers

Is this suitable for someone dealing with work-related burnout, not a specific trauma?

Yes. Many participants join specifically for burnout and chronic stress recovery, with no history of specific trauma. The program is trauma-informed by design, which means it's also gentle and effective for stress and nervous system dysregulation on their own.

Before the retreat, every participant completes an intake to help us determine whether the program is appropriate and safe for their individual situation.

Is this retreat suitable if I have experienced trauma?

Yes. We use a trauma-informed, body-oriented approach and carefully support each participant within the limits of what their body and nervous system can safely process.

Before the retreat, we discuss your personal situation during the intake so that, together, we can determine whether the retreat is appropriate for you at this time.

What happens if I experience an intense emotional process during the retreat?

Our experienced team is there to support you throughout the entire retreat. All facilitators specialize in trauma-informed, body-oriented work, and you will never have to go through the process alone.

Can I participate if I take medication?

That depends on the type of medication and your personal situation. We discuss this carefully during the intake. In some cases, participation is possible with adjustments, while in other cases we may advise postponing the retreat.

Do I need experience with breathwork or somatic practices?

No. The retreat is suitable for both beginners and people who already have experience with breathwork, somatic therapy, or personal development.

Is this a vacation?

Although the retreat takes place in a beautiful location in Bali, it is an intensive personal development and healing program. There is plenty of time for rest and relaxation, but the primary focus of these six days is to support healing, nervous system regulation, and personal growth.

Is my flight to Bali included?

No. Your flight to Bali is not included in the retreat fee. You arrange your own flights, giving you the flexibility to choose your preferred airline, travel dates, and the option to extend your stay before or after the retreat.

Is airport transportation included?

Yes. We provide transportation from Ngurah Rai International Airport (Denpasar) or from your accommodation in Bali to the retreat location. After the retreat, we can also take you back to the airport or another location in Bali if needed.

Is accommodation included?

Yes. During the retreat, you will stay in a beautiful luxury villa by the sea.

Are all meals included?

Yes. All breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are included, along with water, tea, and healthy snacks. We serve fresh, nourishing meals designed to support your healing and recovery.

Can I arrive earlier or stay longer in Bali?

Yes. Many participants choose to arrive a few days before the retreat or extend their stay afterward. We highly recommend this, as it gives you time to adjust to the environment and integrate your experience before returning home.

What should I bring?

After your registration, you will receive a comprehensive information guide containing a packing list, practical information, travel advice, and everything you need to prepare for your retreat.
